Anotha Toughcookie ("Elsie") is an OTTB project purchased from Suffolk race track in November of 2009. Elsie took the winter off and was re-started under saddle by Nancy Cole of Northern Lights farm in Bethany, CT.
Elsie is a beautifully marked and flashy chestnut mare standing 16 hands, with lots of chrome. She is very quiet both on the ground and under saddle and has an easy-going attitude about her post-racing life.Elsie is quite responsive to the leg aids and wants to please, so this combined with her easy attitude will make her a great project. She is a straight forward ride and an intermediate rider would be perfectly capable of continuing her education. She is still green, however, and therefore is not suitable for a beginner rider.
Elsie is comfortably going w-t-c and has been started over small cross rails and consistently works over poles. She shows an aptitude for jumping (the photo shows her over her first jump ever) and could make up to be a cute hunter. She tends to be on the lazier side ... not your typical amped up TB. She simply needs time and mileage to continue her education.
